The Bookshelf
Local Brand reDesign
Design process
The project was a weekly design challenge to create a redesign of a local popular brand. I chose the Bookshelf because I respect the local bookstore’s message and intent and anything I can do to push the local businesses forward is something I want to do.
I found their local to be dated and their brand assets to be cluttered. I wanted to give them a modern update and cleanliness without losing the character and texture that comes with being a local book store.
I leveraged a thicker, modern serif to harken back to literature and readability, and then used the image/icon of a bookshelf leaning over from being stuffed with books. This icon also comes into the shape of a b to also leverage the name of the business and reference their past logo that is the b of their old logo to look like a book on a shelf.
This project was a for-fun project with my design team.
